Action of 15 January 1782 (15 January 1782) Following the collapse of peace talks with Spain, fighting in the Gulf of Mexico continued. Off the course of Jamaica HMS Fox (1780) engaged and captured two armed merchant ships bound for Cuba.	After the war, Jamaica was one of several colonies opened up to American refugees.
